This instrument was authenticated as A. Cavaillé-Coll, Model 8 (Huybens catalog #620), on March 21, 2005 by Dr. Luis Raúl González Catalán and Patricio Hernán González Catalán. The discovery recognized by world expert Jesse Eschbach.   more... I (Luis Gonález) made a drawing of that instrument in the eighties of the last century. In May 2005 I confirmed the similarity of my design with the one that appears in the book facsimilar Maison A. Cavaillé-Coll, Orgues de tous modéles, recently published. In fact, on page 28 of said publication the composition of the registers of model # 8 appears. mentioned above, with two differences: Instead of Quinte 2 2/3 a Voix Celeste appears (hence the “modified” mention I make of model #8). On the next page appears the drawing corresponding to the organ, identical to the one found in the Virgen Medianera Parish (that of Cartagena lacks the original upper capital, which has probably been lost), and that the console is separated from the furniture, while in the reproduction, This appears attached to the furniture (Console en fenetre). In the book entitled Aristide Cavaillé-Coll published in 2004, expert organist and researcher Jesse Eschbach provides the following information (page 669) related to said organ: Importer of the instrument: Monsieur MARCO DEL PONT, Valparaiso. Chili. Date: May 14, 1878 Description: Organ with a 54-note manual keyboard and 18-note pedalboard (in tirasse). Six (6) sound registers with eight (8) register handles. The pedal section has no registers of its own and is permanently coupled to the keyboard. There are three levers that serve the following functions: - Call Tab registration, - Unregister Tongue, and - Activation of the Hautbois 8 expressive box.
