This instrument of mechanical transmissions and one of six of three existing keyboards
in Santiago, it was built by the organ builder
Argentinian, of Italian origin, Alberto Mateo Poggi, possibly in the last decade
the last century.
This builder is also the one who gave the church of the Holy Guardian Angels an organ,
in 1895.
The instrument worked until the 1985 earthquake.
The earthquake, which damaged seriously damaged the majestic temple, caused very serious damage to the choir
center of the church, where the console was located and the transmissions that came out of it
towards the two lateral choirs.
The organ is therefore absolutely silent at present.
Mr. González has kindly provided a collection of photographs taken during the inspection process of the organ in 2004.

Days before the 2010 earthquake, and thanks to an intuition by Dr Luis Gonzáles Catalán, who sensed the incident, the organ was hastily
dismantled and packed, and is stored in a safe place until the restoration of the temple is completed.
The disassembly and packaging work was carried out by engineer Marnix Doorn and Dr Luis Gonzáles Catalán.
Fortunately it was possible to rescue a good part of the pipes.
Mr. Marnix Doorn tells us that he gave the order to move the boxes with pipes outside the temple to clean the place.
Hours later the earthquake occurred and the place where the boxes were located was completely overwhelmed by a part of the concrete structure.
Thanks to these two fortuitous intuitions, a large part of a magnificent instrument has been saved.
Mr Doorn has kindly provided a collection of photographs taken during the disassembly process.
