Matías Luis Schwartz Lau, is a musician, pianist, organist, composer, and educator, born in Santiago de Chile in 1993.

He began his musical studies in piano in 1999 with Blancamaria Montecinos through of the Suzuki method until 2001.

At the end of 2004 he entered the classical piano career at the Modern School of Music and Dance with teacher Mercedes Veglia Müller. Thanks to Mercedes, Matías acquires an interest for classical music and desire to study piano performance and music as a profession. %% He began his senior years of performance as a concert pianist in classical piano at the Escuela Moderna with his teacher Mercedes Veglia in 2012.

At the beginning of the last year of his degree in preparation for his degree, 2015, cancer was discovered advanced to her teacher which prevents her from continuing as a teacher. Mercedes Veglia dies the few weeks but not before requesting that the German pianist Beatrice Berthold be the one continue Matías' training as a pianist.

During his studies at the Escuela Moderna, he took music theory classes with Valentina Rodríguez and Jorge Pérez, harmony with Pablo Bruna, instrumentation with Toly Ramírez, and management with Enrique Baeza. Had a Pedagogical Seminar course with Professor Teresa Deza Tapia that opened his main interest in pedagogy, which added to teaching and didactic knowledge of his piano teacher Mercedes, generated interest in studying Pedagogy as a second career.

Last year, under the tutelage of Beatrice Berthold, Matías acquired new perspectives complementing her piano performance in preparation for her degree with her new teacher.

During 2014, Matías attended the residency of the Chilean pianist and composer Vicente Bianchi as the maestro's personal musical copyist, digitizing the composer's music and preparing his music for chamber concerts. Matías is the pianist for the song “Amanecer” by composer Vicente Bianchi for his album “Chile Fértil” (2016), together with the Japanese soprano Mika Komiya.

During 2015, Matías works as a pianist répétiteur for lyrical singers in the Verónica Villarroel Singing Academy. Same year in which he was part of the metal band national symphonic SLAVERTY as keyboardist and composer led by lyrical singer Karin Montt.

In 2016, Matías entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile to study Pedagogy under the Pedagogical Training Program (PFP) course, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Education and title as School Musical Teaching Teacher under the guidance of Professor Elisa Soto Martinich.

In 2022 he begins studies in Pipe Organ Interpretation and Repertoire with the teacher Italo Olivares Cañete.

In July 2023, Matías takes on the position of Curator of the Jean Personal Pipe Organ Bourgarel (1970) belonging to the professor, writer, translator and organist Don Miguel Castillo Didier, with the task of using, caring for, maintaining and displaying the French organ with the mission to spread as much as possible the knowledge and study of this valuable instrument.

In April 2024 he performs a concert as organist as a way of reopening the organ Orestes Carlini (1907) restored by Organería Organi Pinchi (Italy) (January 2024) in the Minor Basilica of Andacollo (Iglesia Grande de Andacollo, IV Region of Coquimbo) after more than 50 years of silence.

Currently Matías works as an organist, pianist, teacher and composer for various styles, both as a commissioned composer and for his own projects (Lemmonias, Chiri, Slaverty) in addition to continuing to study the pipe organ.
