ROLAND BOERGER, CHILEAN ORGANIST.

Organist and Choir and Orchestra Director Roland Börger was born in Santiago de Chile in 1955.

At the National Conservatory of Music of the University of Chile he studied piano with Maestro Rudi Lehmann, disciple in Berlin of the famous Chilean pianist Claudio Arrau and organ with Professor Carmen Rojas.

Of great importance for the training of the young musician has been the vast influence of the organist Luis González Catalan.

At the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in the city of Freiburg, Germany, he perfected his skills. within the branch of Sacred Music in organ with Maestro Prof. Ludwig Doerr, head of Freiburg Cathedral, and in Choir and Orchestra Conducting with Maestros Prof. Dr. Hans‑Michael Beuerle and Prof. .Dr Francis Travis.

Completed your studies with Exams B and A of Sacred Music and with postgraduate degrees in the Choir and Orchestra Conducting branch of the same Academy.

He has specialized in the interpretation of early music in various courses of organ with the Masters Montserrat Torrent (repertoire of the Iberian Peninsula), Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini (Italian music) and Ludger Lohmann (French and German styles).

In 1982 he won He took the position of Professor of Choir and Orchestra Conducting at the Hochschule Freiburg, a job he performed until 1993.

With the choir and orchestra of the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg he has presented concerts in various cultural centers in the FRG that have received great resonance from the public and critics.

His intensive activity as a musician, director and organizer of the Concert Seasons in Kirchzarten‑Freiburg has been excellently received even further afield. of Freiburg's cultural scene.

In 1989 he won by competition the position of Cantor and Organist of the Christuskirche Freiburg, a position of greatest importance in its capacity as the Sacred Music Concert Center of the Southern Region of Germany. He has stood out in Concerts as Director of the Kantorei der Christuskirche and Figuralchor der Christuskirche choirs and as a soloist on organ and harpsichord.

In 1990 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Studentenkantorei Freiburg, student choir of the University of Freiburg.

With this choir and with the collaboration of soloists of great reputation in Europe, he has presented oratorios, a cappella choral music and works for orchestra that have had great success in different parts of Germany.

As artistic director of the vocal and instrumental ensemble "musica viva freiburg" he has stood out with the presentation of early music (Monteverdi, Schütz, Bach, Spanish and Dutch) on concert tours throughout Germany and Europe.

The recording and distribution of a Compact‑Disc with Spanish Renaissance music with said artistic group has collaborated in highlighting the importance of Roland Börger's musical contribution.

In 1993 he won He held the position of Full Professor and Head of the Chair of Choral Conducting at the Institute of Sacred Music of the Hochschule für Musik und Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig (FRG). In this position he stands out in the training of young professional conductors and as director of the Symphonic Choir and the Chamber Choir, with which he regularly gives concerts and auditions.

Since 1997 it has been working as artistic director of the Würzburg Cappella Vocale Chamber Choir and presenting a cappella choral music programs with said group.
