Carlos Lauterbach was born in may 1944 in Lontué, Chile.
He got he degree in Engineering in 1969 at the Pontificia Universidad
Católica de Chile.
In 1977 he got his Doctorate in Computer Science at the University of California,
at Los Angeles.
Dr Lauterbach's interest in organs is longly dated,
and his first work was the repair and tuning of
the organ at his parish, the Parroquia del Sagrado Corazón de Providencia, in 1961
Later, en 1985, he aquired the organ of the Padres Redentoristas Seminary,
which had been destroyed
by a mayor earth quaque. With the help of organ builder Dr. Luis González,
he rebuilt the instrument, which now is located at his home.
Lately, he helped Dr González, the only organ builder in Chile,
in the installation
of the new organ at the Cathedral of Valdivia, doing the electrification of said instrument.
